I used to LOVE this app; it was simple, convenient, and useful. I had kept my number for a few years. I used it for mainly doctor, work, and school. I would text once a month to keep my number, but now it's like 2-3 days I have to text to keep it. Which is utterly annoying, and it's filled with spam calls. I'm looking into getting an actual service provider now because textnow is just kind of pointless and useless.
Good app to have if you need a second number fast for work purposes or personal reasons. However, there are caveats to it. 1) You get ads popping up after almost every call. 2) Certain features are only given once subscribed to 'lock in' for $1.99 Per Week. 3) If your job requires lots of calls, you will temporarily have your number dropped/suspended while free. 4) Latest bug includes freezing mid-call and won't hang up until you uninstall-reinstall the app.
I'm editing my review because I've just run into a serious problem!! My usual phone is on the fritz. I thought I could just transfer my number to a new phone but I don't see any possible way to do that! The only option I'm given is to get a new number. The other one has all my personal contacts and I'm sure there are a lot of people trying to reach me! I don't know what to do! Previously: One of the best text/call apps around! Good quality calls, SIM card option, ade are tolerable. Good choice!
App *Barely works, when it used work flawlessly. (Edit.) The app now decides when it wants to work. I will recieve a message and while having the conversation it drops out compleyely. My connection is not the issue, I know this for a fact. Banner ad moves around the text block so every time you chat you accidentally click it.
I have had text now for about 10 years. Didn't use it for a few yrs. Recently I got a phone # that I really like. It is frustrating to have to text every 2 to 3 days, instead of every month in order to keep your free #.. But, demand has gone up, so shortening the time period is understandable to roll over phone #s that are not used. The new INVASIVE advertising methods is frustrating. I DO UNDERSTAND ads are needed tho. Waiting on SIM from TEXTNOW my new ARMOR phone from Ulefone.
