There was a widely reported bug in September with the app falsely claiming there was a newly installed app and constantly scanning as a result. Supposedly, the issue was fixed. However, the bug is back. Doesn't inspire much confidence in the app when the same bug keeps cropping up. 2025-02-27 - the constant scanning was gone for a few weeks, but now is back. If they can't figure out how to make the app work properly on Android, what does that say about how well the app will protect your phone?
One thing I love about Bitdefender: if I deactivate and uninstall their "mobile security" app, especially after an expired subscription, then I can run back to this one and use it again for free. Plus, the app is highly accurate as the full version, despite having less features. But nevertheless, I'm satisfied.
I've had it a few days & only used it for 2 scans. My only grumble is that it seems to only scan apps not my full file system.. I chose to install it because I accidentally downloaded an image in a mms message & was concerned it was carrying something naughty. I'm positive there's a way to scan everything, but I didn't see it. perhaps in the next update, that setting can be put where it can be more easily seen. Otherwise, it lives-up to its rep. Glad I installed it.
This app appears to work well. I really don't do much file or email downloading with this phone. I periodically get a message that the device has trojans or malware and I've used this app to scan after getting one of those messages and the scan comes up ckean. So, it makes me wonder if those messages are just a ploy to get me to add an unnecessary app to the device.
I ran the scan without the extra permission below and it ran well with no issues found. But can someone explain the permissions below? I can understand it reading all files, but not deleting them without notification. Allow permission This app wil be able to read, modify, and delete all files on this phone or any connected storage devices. If you allow this, the app may access files that aren't related to the app without notifying you.
