Real Experience Using Spruce: Medical Communication

Application Scenarios

Spruce: Medical Communication is designed to facilitate seamless communication between healthcare providers and their patients. One of the primary application scenarios is in telemedicine, where providers can send secure messages, share documents, and even conduct video consultations. This proves especially useful in situations where patients cannot visit the clinic due to distance or health issues. Additionally, Spruce is well-suited for follow-up care after procedures, allowing doctors to check in with patients and monitor their recovery remotely. The app also supports appointment scheduling and reminders, which helps reduce no-shows and keeps patients engaged in their healthcare journey.

User Experience

The user experience with Spruce is generally positive, as the app boasts an intuitive interface that is easy to navigate. Upon logging in, users are greeted with a clean dashboard that highlights recent messages and upcoming appointments. The messaging system is particularly robust, allowing for real-time communication that feels almost like texting, yet with the added security required in the medical field. Notifications are timely and customizable, ensuring that users remain informed without feeling overwhelmed by constant alerts. Furthermore, the integration with existing electronic health record (EHR) systems streamlines workflows for healthcare providers, making it easier to access patient information quickly. However, some users have reported occasional glitches, particularly during peak usage times, which can disrupt the experience slightly.

Pricing

Spruce operates on a subscription-based model, which varies based on the size of the practice and the features required. For individual practitioners, the pricing is relatively affordable, making it accessible for solo providers or small clinics. Larger practices can opt for more comprehensive packages that include additional features, such as advanced reporting and enhanced support. While some may find the pricing a bit steep compared to other communication tools, the specialized nature and security features tailored for medical environments justify the investment for many healthcare providers.

Updates & Support

Spruce is committed to continuous improvement, frequently releasing updates that enhance functionality and security. Users appreciate the regular enhancements that address bugs and introduce new features based on user feedback. The support team is responsive and available through multiple channels, including email and chat, ensuring that users can get assistance when they need it. Comprehensive resources, including FAQs and tutorial videos, are also available to help users navigate the app effectively. Overall, the combination of regular updates and strong customer support contributes to a positive user experience, reinforcing Spruce's reputation as a reliable communication tool in the healthcare sector.

verified Security & Privacy Review

The Spruce: Medical Communication app prioritizes user security and privacy, employing robust encryption protocols for data transmission and storage. Spruce adheres to HIPAA regulations, which govern the handling of protected health information (PHI). The app requires user consent for data collection and explicitly outlines its privacy practices within its terms and conditions. Users can review and modify their privacy settings, allowing them to control what information is shared and with whom. When it comes to permissions, Spruce requests only those necessary for functionality, such as access to notifications and contacts. The app does not collect location data unless explicitly required for specific features. Users can easily revoke permissions at any time, enhancing their control over personal information. Overall, Spruce demonstrates a strong commitment to protecting user data, implementing industry-standard measures to ensure privacy is maintained throughout the communication process.

it was very nice having a second option when the regular connection we normally went through was not working. but it would have been nice if I could have taken that option and put it on the computer to where I had an easier time seeing her and not having to look at a small screen. but the picture was clear the voice was clear. Otherwise it was a very good App, easy to create an account and easy to connect too, since in the middle of a session and we had to switch Apps.

The app makes it really easy to send a refill request to my doctor. I don't even have to call anyone to sit on hold or tap a million numbers into a computer voice prompt. I can just take a picture of the pills showing the count and a short message. It's also good for quick updates between appointments, and my doc had been great about checking on their app between patients so it's extremely fast.

This app is very helpful during these unusual times. I can still have my appt even if I can't go in for an in person visit. I can continue my therapy without interruption. In person is best... but this is a close 2nd! I had very little sound distortion or video pause, which has more to do with my internet than the app. Overall, I recommend this app if you are unable to go in for your appt.

The biggest thing on my wish list is that the app would be able to accommodate for group therapy. Other small issues include that it doesn't have a means for me to get computer generated texts from for appointment reminders software I use and you can't merge accounts when clients change numbers. Since the pandemic, other platforms didn't have telehealth and since that time I learned there ARE differences in secured platforms. Do your research! For now, this software works for my small business.

The update is horrible. Having to use a new conversation thread for the same client is ridiculous. One for an email. One for text. It makes the inbox incredibly busy and hard to track conversation threads with the same client. I cannot schedule the phone calls to go to voicemail based on office hours without paying for an upgrade to 45 per used per month. And if you integrate your fax number, just fyi, it removes it from your spruce account and you can no longer use spruce for outbound faxes.
