Interesting. Sometimes, Garmin gives a different route than Google maps. Nonetheless, it's nice to have help driving. June 2026 update. When the device is off, the app constantly sends a notification that it cannot connect. So, I have to block notifications until I activate the device. Dumb. Otherwise, OK.
Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2. I was never able to get it to connect after trying 3 PHONES over the last two years. NO OTHER WAY TO CHANGE SETTINGS. No USB, no desktop app, nothing except janky Bluetooth in their heavy dated app. Tried everything. I try every few months to see if it will ever work. Also it gets super hot. If they allowed a lower resolution or framerate for heat and storage practicality, and added a desktop app to plug it in to change settings reliably, it would be an easy 5 stars.
This app is horrible. It was challenging to Bluetooth my S21, once I upgraded to the S26 attempted over a dozen times to link. It indicates I'm Bluetoothed but nothing works. I used AI to troubleshoot, followed multiple diff steps, and nothing works. I cannot go hands free, the Garmin 1050 ask if I want to download the app and connect, with the only option of "Not Now", and I already have the Garmin Drive installed. Android Auto makes this app look like a First Grader designed it. JUNK!!
Out of the box, brand new. Went through the install in vehicle, updated camera. Had to go to the store so I got to use the voice command, I really like this. The connectivity is a little shaky but I believe in time, like anything new, I'll get it figured out. I've had Garmin products most of my working career, and now that I'm retired with so health issues, I believe it's best to have an extra set of eyes, that will document travel. I highly recommend Garmin, I've had others, always went back.
the app is unintuitive and basically useless. Bluetooth calls connect to the garmin over my Bluetooth headset and no way to change it. it would be nice to use my phone to search and enter addresses and locations that can then go directly to the device. if there is a way. I haven't figured it out. Hopefully y'all can make it better.
