User Experience

Users have generally reported a positive experience with the ParkNYC app, praising its user-friendly interface and efficient functionality. The app features a straightforward design that makes it easy to find parking options and pay with just a few taps. The GPS functionality allows users to pinpoint their location and see available parking in real-time, which is especially helpful in a city known for its limited parking spaces. Notifications for session expirations and the ability to extend parking time without returning to the car add to the overall convenience. However, some users have noted occasional glitches, such as slow loading times or difficulty in processing payments during peak hours. Overall, the app enhances the parking experience by reducing the hassle traditionally associated with finding and paying for parking in NYC.

Pricing

ParkNYC operates on a pay-as-you-go pricing model, which varies depending on location and time of day. Users can expect rates to differ significantly between neighborhoods, with higher rates typically found in prime areas like Manhattan. The app also charges a small convenience fee for each transaction, which some users may find off-putting when compared to traditional parking meters. However, many argue that the convenience of cashless payments and the ability to manage parking sessions remotely justifies the additional cost. For frequent parkers, the app offers various payment options, including credit/debit cards and mobile wallets, allowing users to choose the method that best fits their needs.

mostly works. NYC DOT applied unexplained "balance adjustments" totaling $61.25 to my account, running it negative. until you replenish you can't pay for parking, so essentially NYC DOT stole $61.25 of my money. and because payment process is so convoluted and confusing, I received a $65 parking ticket because payment did not go through. so I'm out $126.25 so far just because I used this app. if I simply paid with a cc at the kiosk I would be better off

EDIT: They have implemented another way to cause you to get a ticket: The app randomly refuses to insert your car info when you're trying to park. You have to go back, go to "account", select your car, then go back to enter the parking zone and pay. BEWARE! THEY'VE TURNED OFF NOTIFICATIONS! THEY CONTINUE TO LOOK FOR WAYS TO CAUSE YOU TO GET A TICKET!!!! I stopped getting notifications when the time expired, so I called support. They said that, now, you can't configure the app to notify you.

This app will allow you to select a parking spot, pay for it, and then the city tickets you for being in a spot that they collected parking fees for. After that, I requested my account be closed and the funds on file be refunded. It took over 8 months to get the check, and about a dozen emails from me met with "oh we don'tknow how long it will take" - what finally worked and still took a month was contacting them through their website rather than the existing email chain.

I feel this app is a borderline scam. it's conveniently quits so you can't see how long you have, which results in more tickets. and it's payment process is slow so you think you've begun a session but you haven't. Be on top of it, If not, I guarantee you will get a ticket.

Convenient when it works, but very glitchy; lately won't process a time extension (keeps saying the app is not available). Have to wait for time to expire and then create a new session. Sometimes I get logged out, or it doesn't have my license plate filled in even though it's the default. Overall it beats a parking meter, but should be so much better.
