Security & Privacy Review
I'd really like to see more filters in each app section. If you just want to see local events, you'd have to go to each park listing separately or browse all the events across the country. The search feature has the same limitations. But in a popular park, with location services enabled, this app is a must-have. It's also really nice to have offline access to the park's info.
I've only used it for a good Joshua tree section. so far. It's informative for telling you where the trails and points of interest are, but doesn't actually have trail maps. Also, when you're zoomed in in one trail or point of interest, it blanks out all other info on the map. Which can be annoying if you're trying to hike across multiple trails. However, it is great that it gives you the ability to download the park info, since there is no cell service.
Great start! One suggestion, it would be nice to be able to add a location to a list while viewing the location. Currently you can only add it to favorites. I am planning a trip for next summer and want to add locations to my "Want to Visit" list, but I can not do it when I am looking at a location. After I read about a location, I have to back out, go to my lists, edit the list, find the location, and add it there.
This app has a LOT of potential. Unfortunately, it falls short. It's good for basic info, like park hours, amenities and such. However, at least for the parks I've visited, it lacks any of the deeper information, like actual trail maps, driving tour maps/info or that next layer of functionality I was expecting. You'll still need to grab the park map/brochure at the visitor center. I would love to see this app be a one-stop shop for my NPS visits, it's just not there yet.
Big problems with this app. Had it installed for well over a year now, but in last week or so, takes forever to open. Seems to be doing an update that will rarely ever finish before I can start using app. Sometimes I can get to the point of selecting a park, and then very slow - too slow to really use. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I've tried restarting my cell phone. But no help. Anyone else experiencing this problem? It's unusable now. I'm on Android 12.
